The occurrence of constipation while following some diets may have medical reasons unrelated to the diet, but sometimes constipation is due to a mistake in the diet, in the manner of its implementation or a medical condition accompanying the person who follows the diet.

 

Among the most common causes of constipation while following a diet are:

1- Dehydration or not drinking enough water to meet your needs

2- Decreased intake of natural soluble fibers

3- The lack or absence of fats in diet

4- Sedentary life style

5- Overeating dairy products

For managing constipation, the following solutions must be followed (in the following order)

1- Treating causes and following general dietary guidelines

  • Stay Hydrated
  • Increased soluble dietary fiber (such as zucchini, carrot, pumpkin, chia seeds, avocado, cantaloupe)
  • Raise your dietary fat a little bit (just add two tablespoons of olive oil, ghee or butter per day)
  • Move Your Body and do more physical activity
  • Don't Overdo Dairy products

2- Eat Natural Laxative Foods

  • Two dried plums or two dried figs once a day
  • Spices and herbs, as turmeric, and ginger
  • Garlic
  • Aloe Vera Extract

3- Using a Magnesium supplement, after consulting your doctor to ensure that there is no contraindication to using this supplement

4- Use natural Laxative supplements once a day in the evening: such as herbal laxative drinks (diet tea), charcoal tablets, or Agiolax sachets.

5- Using a laxative medicine if the previous methods did not work and there was no bowel movements for two days or when necessary, after consulting your doctor to make sure that there is no contraindication to using that medicine
