The benefits:

Moisturizing and gives a feeling of satiety: the perfect harmony between its fibers and water (more than 90% by weight) lasts for long hours.

Good for muscles: It contains Citrulline and lycopene, which relieves muscle pain.

Food for skin and hair: It contains vitamin A, C and lycopene.

Nutritional facts and calories of the medium slice of watermelon:

Weight: ~ 152 g.

Size: ~ 4-5 cubes (~ 1.5 cup)

Calories: 46 calories.

Water: 139 g

Carbohydrates: 11 grams

Protein: 1 gram.

Fat: 200 mg.

Potassium: 170 mg.

Lycopene: 7 mg.

Risks:

Patients with high blood potassium should not take more than one cup of watermelon daily (contains less than 140 mg of potassium). According to the US National Institutes of Health, high potassium in the blood may cause arrhythmias and other problems in the blood vessels and muscles.

Eating more than 30 mg a day of lycopene may cause nausea, diarrhea, indigestion, and bloating, according to the American Cancer Society.

As for those who follow a diet, it should be noted that:

  • Restriction Diets based exclusively on fruits may “apparently” lead to weight loss, but this is only temporary weight loss, and it is mainly achieved via loss of muscle mass.
  • The natural sugar in watermelon rises in the blood very quickly, so it is not suitable for diabetics or those who have insulin resistance.
  • Watermelon should not be eaten at least one day before your regular weekly “Check Weight” day to avoid water retention and false weight and waist measurements.

Finally, the golden tip for eating fruits is: Vary your choices.
In other words, Do not depend on one type of fruit, whatever is health benefits, usefulness, or calories.

Diversity and multiplicity of food alternatives is the key.

With my sincere wishes for health and wellness.
